Sugar Challenge!
Test your will and bring more awareness to your habits by not eating sugar for 2 weeks!
The sugar challenge includes not eating the following items for two weeks:
- Anything sweetened with white, brown, or powdered sugar
- Alcohol, (because it simply turns in to sugar once you drink it.) Alcohol includes liquor, wine, beer and cider.
Why:
- To build discipline in the mind
- To become aware and more mindfull of our habits and what we feed our bodies
- The benefits to your body and mind often outweigh the strife of not eating sugar for 14 days
- 14 days is only .0383 of the year, it's really not that long, really. It's not much harder than holding Warrior 2 for 2 minutes, we are yogis, we can do this.
When:
Next Sugar Challenge is July 11 - 24
Rules:
The bonus, secret challenge within the challenge is learning to become more honest with ourselves.
If you cheat and have a sugar item, write it down, keep track. At the end of the challenge, send your list to Timarie. The person who cheated the least, will win 1 free yoga class and 10% off at the Miko Yoga store.
Being honest with others and ourselves requires that we accept our authentic self and shine our light regardless of its imperfections!
Perspective:
Our reality is what we choose to experience and see, and abstaining from something often births new perspectives. When the 2 weeks is up, rather than gorging on sweets, the hope is that you will eventually teach your mind to enjoy the sweets. No longer mindlessly eating or drinking sugar, you savor each bite or each sip, appreciating it for the bliss that it is. With this perspective, a small bite of sugar becomes decatent, and completely satisfying. And eventually, the thought of eating a pint of ice cream will seem excessive and make your stomach turn.
Join the sugar challenge and give this gift of liberation and awareness to your mind and body! You will feel better!
