I really should be going to bed right now, but I wanted to share with you this awesome quote from Albert Einstein:
"A hundred times a day I remind myself that my life depends on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give, in measure as I have received, and am still receiving."
The fact that someone as naturally brilliant as Albert Einstein felt this much gratitude towards others makes me wonder what I'm missing and that there must be something to it! In order to really bring this home, I've been thinking about all the simple things in my life that wouldn't be here without help from others. The truth is, I wouldn't have anything, or be at all, if others had not helped me! Take a moment to create your own list, even if you only jot down a few items...It will brighten your day as you start to acknowledge all that goes into making your day!
Here's a snapsot of things I'm thankful others have done for me:
1) The farmers who harvested my organic spinach I ate today.
2) My husband for taking care of the dogs and cleaning the house during all my yoga pursuits.
3) The team who created my car that reliably gets me to and from work.
4) Work, although sometimes I resent it, for funding all of my pursuits, and now some of my husband's pursuits. :)
5) Stoneyfield Organic Yogurt for breaking into super stores and making Organic foods more available to the masses, and me. (Whole Foods is too far away!)
6) All of you for coming, and continuing to come, to Miko Yoga. Sincerely, I mean this from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
7) The team at Apple for creating my computer that I rely on so much!
8) My parents. My thanks to my parents is much too, too long. But ultimately, without them, I wouldn't have lived one single day.
9) Speaking of living, thanks to the doctor who successfully delivered me!

"We will discover the nature of our particular genius when we stop trying to conform to our own or to other people's models, learn to be ourselves..."
-Shakti Gawain
Be 100% honest with yourself. Learn to love and respect yourself without pretense.
"Remember what you were made of, remember what flows in your veins. Remember what you were given and remember what you created on your own. Life is a masterpiece, don't ever forget the gift that is in you."
~ Rachel Synder
"A hundred times a day I remind myself that my life depends on the labors of other men, living and dead, and that I must exert myself in order to give, in measure as I have received, and am still receiving."

This quote applies to our life in general, as well as our practice on the mat. Trust the process as you embark on new challenges, and be okay with imperfection!
"Waking this morning, I smile,
A brand-new day is before me.
I aspire to live each moment mindfully,
And to look upon all beings
With the eyes of kindness and compassion.
May the Lord be with my spirit
And Grace be with me.
Thank you for this day,
And the lessons to be learned.”
