"Timarie (Miko Yoga instructor) really engages the body so that each muscle works to it's full potential. I am seeing muscles develop that I didn't know existed. I have been in Miko Yoga for only three months and have lost over ten pounds." - Angie Berg
"I am in my mid 50's and a first time yoga student! After my grandson was born, I noticed how unflexible my body had become! I wanted to be able to get down on the floor and play with him....After about a month of yoga with Timarie, I couldn't believe it when at the end of class, I noticed I was sitting with my legs crossed!! It was so exciting for me that I got tears in my eyes because I had actually reached my first goal!!" - Teresa Hodges
"I just had to thank you for the best yoga experience I've had in literally years. You're a natural teacher, and you made it easy to come back to class after a headache-induced absence." - Kay Shurtleff
"I loved the class and am so glad to have discovered something in Rockwall that is comparable to what I was doing before."
- Leeann Wells
- The more a muscle is used or stimulated, the more calories are burned. Yoga postures strengthen and stretch any given muscle at the same time, thereby stimulating the muscle to nearly 100%
- The variety of postures practiced in a typical yoga class stimulates nearly every muscle in the body, providing balance to all muscles without overstraining any given muscle. In comparison, running stimulates only 25% causing physical strain, (runners knee, shin splints, hip flexor strain.) As a result, athletes commonly practice yoga in addition to their professional sport.
- The body must provide the muscles with oxygen in order for the muscles to function. The more a muscle is used, the more oxygen is needed. As our demand for oxygen increases, so does our cardiovascular system.
- Not only is yoga an awesome work out for our muscles and
the entire cardiovascular system, it also sharpens and calms
your mind. It teaches you to pause and reflect before acting,
and find contentment in your practice and in life.
