Trust your intuition, trust your gut!
Nearly all yoga postures work the core, but this month, each class
will have more focus on strengthening the core, (disclaimer -
technically, the core is not just the belly, it is also the low back and glutes as well! Anything
that supports connecting our upper half to our lower half is a part of our core.)
Not only does strengthening our core make our belly's flatter, but a strong core
also protects us from straining our lower backs.
Strengthening our core is paramount to advancing into arm balance
postures like bakasana/crow and inversions like Sirsha-asana/headstand. After
a month of core, you might surprise yourself next time you try an advancements
like these!
Aside from the more obvious physical benefits of exercising the core, the saying
"trust your gut" is no coincidence! Our core is our center for
will-power and discipline. Often times, our gut "speaks" to
us as it feels like it twists, sinks, or rises depending on the
stimulus. The more we exercise this area, the more aware
we might become of listening to it!
